our_daily_vinoI haven't tried wine in a box in decades, but I was attracted by the Black Box packaging (an elegant black box, duh!), the price (@ US$22 for the equivalent of four bottles), and the fact that it keeps fresh for four weeks after being opened.
I had to wrestle with it slightly to get the spout properly positioned, but only slightly. The spout works like a dream and never drips! The box is about 10 inches tall and 5 inches wide and deep, so it's not hard to find a spot to put it.
The wine itself is very pleasant, and as I look around the internet I find lots of good reviews for the Black Box line of wines. I'm looking forward to trying some of the other varietals.
This is what their website says about the Merlot: Velvety and lush in the mouth it exhibits aromas of leathery plums and cinnamon-spiced oak. The smooth, aged textured palate is complemented by sweet red currant flavors. The finish is long and warm with resolved tannins.
I couldn't have said it better myself. Unless 'smells good, tastes good' is better?
