Tonight I'm drinking...

I trust Sutter Home for drinkable, inexpensive wine. I'm particularly fond of their chenin blanc, which I can usually buy for around US$4.00, and that's what I planned to pick up on my last grocery store run.
But I found Sutter Home's 2008 Sauvignon Blanc on sale, and bought a bottle for US$6.99. A double bottle!
I had a glass with my dinner of skinless bone-in chicken breast, onions, carrots and celery all braised in low-fat cream of chicken soup and liberally garnished with fresh parsley. Sauvignon blanc wouldn't be my first choice of wines for that meal, but there was no clashing. Just no magic, you know?
But I'm still sipping it, hours later, because it's so refreshing all on its own! Light and crisp with just a little pucker - a nice change of pace from the smooth, slightly sweet chenin blanc.
I also have a box of red wine in the kitchen. I'll try to remember to post the next time I have some of that. :-)
